To close out DeSchool 2025, we invite those who want to strategize the future of the degrowth movement along with DGI to join us at the DGI office for a closing workshop on strategic planning and movement-buiding.

While a great deal of degrowth discussion happens in academic circles, degrowth is first and foremost a social movement. What does degrowth look like in action? How do we organize, advocate and agitate for a downscaling of the global economy?

For our final full day of DeSchool programming, we’ll be at the South Shore Cultural Center (SSCC) again.

Now that we’re all familiar with the challenge to growth, what does it really mean to intentionally downscale the global economy?

What are the implications of degrowth for the sustainability movement, the economy, political systems, modes of production, community, and culture? How does the degrowth movement weave into other movements in North America for environmental and social justice?

For the second day of DeSchool 2025, we will be at the historic South Shore Cultural Center (SSCC).

What is degrowth? Why is challenging economic growth so essential to the sustainability movement, and what challenges have been made so far?

DeSchool 2025 will kick off with a day of workshops and presentations at Degrowth Institute’s office, focused on answering these questions, and ensuring everyone attending DeSchool gains a solid understanding of the degrowth movement.
