To bring about true sustainability, we must work together to pair environmental and social justice efforts with an intentional downscaling of the global economy.
This is called degrowth.
Degrowth is not simply a matter of shrinking the economy in its current form. It is not a recession, a temporary austerity measure, or a going backward to simpler times. Instead, degrowth seeks to ensure that global society's modern needs can be met even as the economy contracts.
The degrowth movement is building momentum across the world, drawing from myriad perspectives on economic justice, political organization, and ways of living together.
