Degrowth Institute's John Mulrow and Jason Barahona Rosales will present a dialogue focused on the growth imperative, a cultural and structural need for GDP growth to ensure social stability. Due to this imperative, savings created by technological advancements in efficiency are continually redeployed to serve the need for economic expansion. We'll explore how this dynamic helps to uncover why the health of our planet continues to worsen despite the work of well-intentioned sustainability efforts. In order to reconcile this challenge, we propose a just, democratic transition to a smaller global economy.
